ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Search crews are continuing to look for a missing man after a kayaking incident on Roanoke Rapids Lake near the dam, officials said.

Rescuers responded Thursday night and pulled one man from the water as he drifted about 60 yards from shore. He was taken to the hospital after being rescued.

Authorities said the man told them he had been kayaking with another person who gave him a life jacket before going missing.

Crews have been searching by land, water and air for days using sonar, drones, divers and K9s, but the second man has not been found.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation, and the search remains ongoing.
