RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A popular Raleigh tradition is lighting up the night once again.

Moonlight in the Garden returns to the JC Raulston Arboretum this November, giving visitors a rare chance to explore the gardens after dark. The event runs Friday and Saturday evenings, Nov. 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22.

Featuring more than a thousand luminaries, thousands of sparkling lights, live music, food trucks, fire pits, marshmallows, and hot apple cider, the event serves as a fundraiser for the Arboretum. It's presented in partnership with Southern Lights of Raleigh and the NC Agricultural Foundation.

"A garden at night with lights is completely different than it is during the day," said Mark Weathington, director of the JC Raulston Arboretum. "It really highlights the form. We can accentuate the colors, but you really see these incredible forms that you don't see during the day."

This year's event includes a new section - the Enchanted Oaks in the Winter Garden - featuring illuminated glass sculptures by local artist Fred Mead.

All proceeds from ticket sales benefit daily operations at the JC Raulston Arboretum, helping keep the gates open and admission free year-round.
