Moore County woman charged in domestic violence shooting

CARTHAGE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman was charged in connection with a domestic violence shooting, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said Thursday.

Fields said deputies responded about 8 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Liberty Lane in Carthage.

A man was flown to a trauma center for treatment of a gunshot wound and was described as stable. Court documents identified him as Carl Hurum Kinz II.

Sarah Rhea Kinz, 47, of Carthage, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor.



According to court documents, four children, ages 17, 13, 10, and 8, were present when Sarah Kinz allegedly fired a shot from a Glock 9mm handgun that belonged to the victim.

Kinz was being held at the Moore County Detention Center without bond, pending her first court appearance scheduled for Sept. 18.

The incident remains under investigation.
