CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Multiple agencies are searching for a missing teenage swimmer at Jordan Lake after an incident Saturday evening, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the teen was swimming from a family boat during an outing on the lake when they encountered trouble in the water around 6:30 p.m. An extensive search began shortly afterward.
Search operations were suspended overnight and will resume Sunday morning.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the North Chatham Fire Department, Alamance County Rescue, FirstHealth EMS, Chatham County Emergency Management, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and North Carolina State Parks.
Officials have not released additional details about the swimmer.
