The governor highlighted the recent state budget and its investment in law enforcement.
The budget supports police departments with more funding and bonuses, and pay raises for officers.
"That is why earlier this month, I was proud to sign into law a budget that makes historic investments in public safety," Stein said. "It includes a 16.2% pay increase for SBI and ALE officers, a 15% pay raise for state Highway Patrol officers, a 13% pay raise for correctional officers ... and a 6.5% pay raise for probation and parole."
Stein also recognized the work that the Raleigh Police Department is doing on officer recruitment and retention.
