NC leaders react to death of Sen. Lindsey Graham

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WTVD) -- U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, a longtime Republican lawmaker from South Carolina, died Saturday after what his office described as a "brief and sudden illness." He was 71.

Leaders across North Carolina reacted to Graham's death, remembering his decades of public service and influence in Washington.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-NC: "I'm shocked and saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague Senator Lindsey Graham. Lindsey was a lifelong public servant, a tireless champion for South Carolina, and an outspoken advocate for America's role in protecting freedom throughout the world. Susan and I are praying for Lindsey's family and staff during this incredibly difficult."
