DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- NC MedAssist will bring its Mobile Free Pharmacy to Durham County and western Wake County later this week, offering free over-the-counter medications to people in need.
The first event is scheduled for Friday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The River Church, located at 4425 Ben Franklin Blvd. in Durham. The event is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, April 25, the Mobile Free Pharmacy will visit western Wake County from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Poole Family YMCA, 2110 Aversboro Road in Garner.
NC MedAssist will provide a variety of over-the-counter medicines, including pain relievers, cold and cough products, antihistamines, digestive aids, vitamins and children's medications. Supplies are limited and subject to availability. Participants must be at least 18 years old to receive medicine. No identification, proof of residency or income verification is required, and registration is not needed.
Both events will also serve as an opportunity to identify individuals who may qualify for NC MedAssist's Free Pharmacy Program, which provides prescription medications at no cost to uninsured North Carolina residents living at or below 300% of the federal poverty level.
