Thousands without power in Durham near Brier Creek due to car crash

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A multi-car crash left thousands without power Friday morning in Durham near Brier Creek.

Homes and businesses are without electricity, as well as street lights at major intersections.



Durham Police Department said the crash happened around 6: 15 a.m. along Page Road near Page Road Extension, damaging several utility poles. One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The intersections without working traffic lights are:

  • S. Miami Blvd and TW Alexander Dr
  • S. Miami Blvd and Angier Ave
  • Page Rd and TW Alexander Dr
  • Page Rd and Lumley Rd


There is no estimated time for power to be restored.



Motorists are asked to avoid this area.
