Eyewitness News was there during the ribbon cutting at the opening ceremony Friday morning to officially open the fair.
Now of course people have already started coming to the fair.
Some as early at 9 this morning were all ready to try out all the different foods or catch a small line at their favorite ride.
But N.C. Commissioner of Agriculture spoke today and wanted to remind folks of all the exhibits history, and work behind the scenes to get the fair up and running.
Not to mention the new event center which is under construction.
"This is 30,000 square feet. It's going to have eight year round restrooms to help with all of the other events. We have more fair food, and an event center so it's going tie Dorton arena, which is part of the past of the fairgrounds to the future," said Steve Troxler.
The event center is expected to be open by the fair next year.
