North Hills rolling out new parking enforcement

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Parking enforcement is changing in North Hills. People now have to register their vehicles when parking in certain sections. People are offered three hours of free parking and will have to pay after that, or they could get a $35 ticket.

North Hills resident Abby Zadeits feels the change could deter improper parking.

She said, "I think some people don't like it, but as someone who lives here, it may be helpful for me at least."

Zadeits said there's lots of traffic here on the weekends, and if she drives her car out of the building, her assigned parking spot is often taken when she comes back.

"In my building, there's been a ton of parking issues, and people are like, getting mad about it because people that don't live here are parking," she said.

Kane Realty said the changes come after listening to tenants and guests, and that this solution will make things more efficient, reduce frustration, and ensure a better flow throughout the property.

Kane is working with Power Parking Management Company.

It rolled out enforcement this past September.

There is now more oversight in the Innovation District, Bank of America Tower, and street-level parking in the Park District.

A spokesperson said enforcement at the Captrust Towers will begin this month, and there are no dates for the rest of the shopping center.

Daniel Mason also lives in North Hills.

"I prefer it the way it was," he said.

Kane said office tenants, residents, and retail employees will continue to have dedicated parking access within their assigned buildings.
