DURHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Novartis is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Durham and Wake counties.

Governor Josh Stein says the company, that develops and manufactures innovative medicines, will expand its pharmaceutical operations in the state.

"North Carolina continues to lead in advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, and Novartis' expansion in the Triangle reflects our state's talent and innovative spirit," said Governor Stein.

The company expects to create 700 new jobs by the end of 2030 in Durham and Wake counties.

That will be on top of a $771 million dollars in Durham and Morrisville.

The expansion combines new construction with the renovation of existing facilities across three sites.

While salaries for the new positions will vary, the average annual salary is expected to be $111,161, which exceeds the Durham County average of $97,531 and the Wake County average of $76,643.
