Woman charged after dragging off-duty RPD officer directing traffic near NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Raleigh police officer was hurt, and a driver was charged following a traffic incident on Western Boulevard near North Carolina State University on Friday.

RPD said the officer, who was working off duty, was directing traffic at Western Boulevard and Pullen Road. According to an arrest warrant, he was leaning in the window of an SUV when the driver began to drive away, causing him to be dragged along as graduation events were underway on campus.

According to police, the woman driving the SUV was not following traffic rules.

Officer H. Robins sustained abrasions to his arm but is expected to be OK.

Shelley Anne Moore, 25, of Marietta, Ohio, was arrested by campus police and charged with felony hit and run injury, felony resisting public officer/serious injury, misdemeanor reckless driving to endanger, and misdemeanor fail to obey traffic officer.



Moore was being held on a $5,000 secured bond.
