MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WTVD) -- An AMBER Alert issued Thursday night for a missing eastern North Carolina teenager has been canceled after authorities confirmed she was safely located.

The Morehead City Police Department said 13-year-old Olivia Nicole Kimbro was found safe and is now in police custody. The alert was officially canceled Friday morning. No additional details about where she was located or the circumstances surrounding her recovery have been released.

Olivia was reported missing earlier Thursday. Police said she left the area of Morehead Middle School around 2:50 p.m. and was last seen walking east on Bridges Street Extension toward U.S. 70. Surveillance video later placed her near the intersection of Highways 24 and 70 and at a Dollar Tree in Havelock.

Authorities previously said Olivia was believed to be with a man. Police confirmed Friday morning that the man and the vehicle associated with the case had been identified as part of the investigation.

Police thanked the public for its assistance and said no further information is being released at this time, citing the ongoing investigation and the fact that a juvenile is involved.
