DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Durham Rescue Mission has relaunched 'Operation RESCUE: Warm Shelter' as dangerously low temperatures continue.

A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for parts of the Triangle and Central North Carolina, beginning Thursday night through Friday night. A wintry mix is expected Friday with temperatures highs only reaching the uppers 30s.

Two outreach teams will deploy at 10 a.m. Thursday to locate homeless encampments and personally invite them to seek refuge with the Mission.

"The holiday season is in full swing now, and so is the cold weather," Rev. Rob Tart, CEO and present of the Mission, said. "Freezing precipitation is coming through. This kind of weather can be very dangerous and even deadly. That is why we are sending out our teams to make sure everyone is prepared and safe"

Warm shelter, hot meals and other services will continue to be offered as long the cold persists, the nonprofit told ABC11 News.
