Police investigate Fayetteville crash that left 1 dead, All American Freeway reopens

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A section of the All American Freeway in Fayetteville was closed while authorities investigate a fatal crash.

The crash happened around 6:12 a.m. Saturday near Cliffdale Road, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The victim was identified as Raiheam Lee Owens, 38, of Fayetteville.

Investigators say Owens was driving on the All American Freeway when his vehicle ran out of fuel. He started walking and was facing away from oncoming traffic while wearing dark clothing. He was then hit by a white Volkswagen Passat.

Outbound lanes from Raeford Road to the Cliffdale Road exit were closed during the investigation. All lanes have since reopened.
