SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating a deadly crash after a pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night on Lillington Highway in Spring Lake, police said.
A Cumberland County Sheriff's Office deputy on patrol discovered the pedestrian lying in the roadway near 901 Lillington Highway and immediately requested assistance. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.
Police said the driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Spring Lake police are leading the case with assistance from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Cumberland County Sheriff's Office deputies.
The roadway was closed from 670 Lillington Highway to Chapel Hill Road.
