Wake Forest Police said the shooting took place in the 5500 block of Mill Dam Road.
Police said just after 8:30 p.m. that a suspect had been taken into custody. Hariston Jose Urena-Morales has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
Police said Josefina Tavarez was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries where she later died.
