RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Convention Center is entering the next phase of its fire recovery. Tomorrow, new permanent cooling units will arrive to replace the temporary equipment the facility has been using since the fire that broke out in December of last year.

A crane will return to McDowell Street the week of April 1 to lift the new equipment onto the roof. Lane closures are expected during the first week of April.

During this timeframe, portions of the venue's permanent kitchen will also be restored as the convention center transitions back to regular operations.

The convention center has welcomed nearly 85,000 guests in the first quarter of 2026 as it continues to recover from the fire.
