Capital Boulevard reopens after deadly crash near Wake Forest Road

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A deadly crash Monday morning shut down Capital Boulevard in Raleigh.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the inbound lanes near Wake Forest Road

Raleigh Police said a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu going north crossed the median and veered into the southbound lanes as it approached the Wake Forest Road overpass. The Malibu crashed with a concrete Jersey barrier next to the bridge supports.

The driver, identified as Tyrone Mason, 31, died from his injuries. Police said speed was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
