Buffaloe has over 30 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, where he managed over 21,000 employees and 13,000 National Guard members. His career includes roles as police chief, interim city manager, and director of public safety, along with a decade of service in the North Carolina National Guard.

Buffaloe will oversee Professional Standards and Administrative Services while supporting the department's mission to enhance safety and community engagement.
