Raleigh police watching over Confederate monuments after protesters take down Silent Sam

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Several Raleigh police officers were stationed near the Confederate monuments at the State Capitol Monday night after protesters knocked down the Silent Sam statue on UNC's campus.

Officials said they were just extra cautious while the state decides what to do next.

The North Carolina Historical Commission will decide the fate of the three Confederate statues at the Capitol.
