City of Raleigh hosting open houses to review BRT plans

Thursday, October 2, 2025
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Thursday is the first of two open houses in the coming week where you can learn more about the the City of Raleigh's new bus rapid transit line.

Thursday's presentation will focus on the Northern Corridor connecting downtown Raleigh to Triangle Town Center.

During the open house people will get a chance to see the results of the study and give feedback on the current route options.

Construction crews are expected to finally break ground on the project in November.

The first phase of the BRT will include 10 stations along New Bern Ave.

If all goes as planned, the line is expected to be running by the summer of 2030.

Wake County leaders say it's all a part of the plan to reduce travel headaches in the Triangle.

"We can't build our way out of congestion by expanding roads. So we're really focused on expanding more transportation options through transit, through expanded bus service. We're really leaning in over the next several years through bus rapid transit routes 35." said Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Susan Evans

The first of the open houses will be at the Green Road Community Center from 5-7 p.m. Thursday night. The next meeting is on Monday in Midtown.
