FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man who escaped police custody was found after a search of the area, Fayetteville Police said Tuesday night.

FPD said officers were transporting 43-year-old Randy Lane Locklear when he kicked out the window of a marked patrol car and ran away.

Officers searched the surrounding area for Locklear, who they said was a "known offender," and took him back into custody without incident.

Locklear was being taken for questioning in connection with a recent robbery investigation and had an active warrant for a probation violation out of Harnett County when he got away, police said. He was also found to be in possession of a vehicle linked to the robbery case, FPD said.
