Rocky Mount police investigate 3 separate shootings over 2 days

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police in Rocky Mount are investigating three separate shootings that happened over a two-day span, leaving multiple people injured, including one person in critical condition.

The Rocky Mount Police Department said the incidents occurred on Friday and Saturday at different locations across the city. Investigators do not believe the shootings are connected.

Officers first responded around 11:04 p.m. on Friday to the 1200 block of East Grand Avenue for a reported shooting. Police said they found two women with gunshot wounds. One was taken to UNC Nash Health Care for treatment and later released. The second victim had non-life-threatening injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital.

A few hours later, at about 2:41 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to another shooting in the 1200 block of North Wesleyan Boulevard. Police said a man was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to UNC Nash Health Care before being transferred to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. He is listed in critical condition.

Later that morning, around 9 a.m., officers were called to the 1400 block of Shirley Leak Avenue for a third shooting. During the investigation, police said they learned a man was shot by a woman following an argument. The victim was taken to UNC Nash Health Care and then transferred to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment.



Police said there is no known ongoing threat to the public related to these incidents.

The department's Criminal Investigation Division is investigating all three shootings. No additional details, including information about suspects or arrests, have been released.
