RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- GoTriangle hosted a ribbon-cutting Friday for the new union bus station facility in Raleigh.
Located at 525 West Hargett Street, the Raleigh Union Station train facility (RUS) is strategically near downtown Raleigh's Warehouse District. The new station includes six bays for passengers, two layover bays, and waiting areas, along with passenger amenities, public restrooms, bike parking and racks, and lockers.
The event started at 10 a.m. with special remarks, followed by facility tours, giveaways, food trucks, music and more.
"This event will be a day to celebrate not just the ribbon cutting of our new transportation center, but also to honor the greater Triangle community and what we can achieve through effective partnerships," Brian Smith, GoTriangle President and CEO, said. "Raleigh Union Bus Station Facility will mean improved, more efficient public transportation in our region, which is a benefit for us all. We can't wait to celebrate this special occasion with the larger community."
Make sure to note that bus service begins in August 3. Once service begins, there will be changes along some GoTriangle and GoRaleigh routes.
