Sampson County corporal arrested, fired after assault, threats charges

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A corporal with the Sampson County Sheriff's Office has been arrested and fired after being charged with assault on a female and communicating threats.

According to the sheriff's office, Corporal Joseph Jerome Rusk-Madison was taken into custody after charges were filed against him Friday night.

The sheriff's office said deputies were sent to Rusk-Madison's home, where he was arrested.

The agency's command staff terminated Rusk-Madison's employment with the sheriff's office on Saturday.

Rusk-Madison is being held in the Harnett County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold.



Officials have not released additional details about the allegations. The investigation remains ongoing.
