The scene spans multiple areas of the Oak Branch Lane apartment complex, not far from U.S. 1, where Sanford police say a shooting and a crash are connected.
Video from the scene shows a heavy police presence, with evidence markers spread across a street and parking lot as investigators work to piece together what happened.
Authorities confirmed a shooting occurred on one side of the complex. On the other side, an SUV crashed into three parked vehicles -- including a Lee County Sheriff's Office car. The SUV appeared to have significant front and side damage.
Officials said a medical helicopter was initially called to the scene but was later canceled.
It's unclear how many people were involved or if there were any injuries.
