The premier tea party brought together members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. in a show of sisterhood and unity.
The event will also serve as a fundraiser for the Empower Dance Foundation, a Durham-based nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality dance education for children and youth ages 2 through 18.
Organizers say a significant portion of the proceeds will support the foundation's efforts to eliminate barriers related to economic inequality, racism and representation in the arts.
Through its programs, Empower Dance Foundation seeks to provide transformative experiences that encourage confidence, self-expression and resilience among young people.
SororiTea Durham is attended by a wide range of professional backgrounds, including public service, education, business, law, health care and corporate leadership.
Organizers describe the event as an opportunity to recognize the impact of Divine Nine sororities while giving back to the local community through charitable support.
