ZEBULON, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Town of Zebulon has appointed Anthony Puckett as its next chief of police.

He brings 30 years of law enforcement service to Zebulon, including as chief of police in Nashville and Spring Hope, as well as a police major at N.C. State.

"I am honored to join the Zebulon community and lead the dedicated men and women of the Police Department," said Puckett. "My focus will be on strengthening trust, enhancing transparency, and ensuring that every resident and business feels safe and supported as our town continues to grow."

Earlier in his career, Puckett worked with the Wake Forest Police Department as well as the Rocky Mount Police Department, leading K-9 units, SWAT operations, and officer training.

"Chief Puckett's career reflects not only decades of experience but also a clear commitment to community-centered policing," said Interim Town Manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba. "Our residents asked for a leader who values transparency, integrity, and building trust. We believe Chief Puckett will embody those values while guiding our department through Zebulon's growth. As we begin this new chapter as a town, I'd like to thank Deputy Chief Bob Grossman, who has served in an interim capacity since January 2025."

Puckett holds a master's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri and a bachelor's degree in Justice Studies from NC Wesleyan University.

Puckett's first day on the job will be Nov. 3.
