The SBI said the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on November 25 in the 6700 block of Camden Road, a Fayetteville address in the Hope Mills area. The sheriff's office said Corporal Tyreek Brown responded to a domestic call.
When he arrived, Brown came across a woman with a knife. Deputy Brown told the woman to drop the knife, but she lunged toward the deputy with the knife, CCSO said.
That's when the deputy fired his gun. He then gave first aid until medical personnel arrived. The woman was taken to a medical facility for treatment and is still being treated.
