CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- UNC-Chapel Hill unveiled its expanded Military and Veteran Student Success Center this week, a move aimed at better supporting students who are vets and their families.
The university's initiative seeks to provide easier access to the center's resources and create a sense of connection and support for student-veterans.
"Being able to find those places of connection, of support, of camaraderie outside the classroom-that's the kind of sense of home we're trying to create for them," said Desiree Rieckenberg, UNC Dean of Students. "We know our military and veteran students need that type of support to not only do well academically but to thrive holistically."
The center will also house VA counselors and is expected to serve approximately 2,500 military-affiliated students.
