UNC player charged with assault suspended indefinitely

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill football player is charged with simple assault.

According to records, 21-year-old senior cornerback Tyreece Isia-Bernard Jiles was arrested at 400 N. West Street early in Raleigh Sunday morning.

Details around the alleged incident weren't immediately available.

UNC announced on Sunday night that Jiles has been suspended for a "violation of team rules."

The senior played in eight games this season, primarily on special teams.

The arrest came hours after UNC defeated in-state rival NC State to win its 11th consecutive game.
