The bright solar prominence, or large gaseous feature that extends outward from the sun's surface, was spotted on April 21, according to NASA.

The solar plume grew to be many times the size of the Earth at its greatest height, and most of it fell back into the sun. The video, made of still images taken with an ultraviolet light camera, show the phenomenon over a six-hour period.
