Wake County mother indicted on murder charge in death of 12-year-old son

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wake County grand jury has indicted Holly Wren on charges of second-degree murder and felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury in connection with the death of her 12-year-old son.

According to the indictment, prosecutors allege Wren unlawfully and feloniously caused the death of her son on or about March 24, 2025.

Court documents further allege that Wren failed to seek medical treatment for her son's untreated diabetes. Prosecutors contend the omission was grossly negligent and led to the child's death.

Holly Wren was charged with murder and felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury in connection with the death of her 12-year-old son.



The indictment alleges Wren's actions demonstrated a reckless disregard for her son's life by not obtaining necessary medical care for his condition.



Wren faces the following charges:
