Drivers received a hot breakfast and other goodies.
It was just one of several events during Bus Driver Appreciation Week.
Drivers told ABC11 they realize the effect they have on students. Drivers are often the first school interaction that students have for the day, which can set the tone for children.
"It's a big responsibility that we have on us every single day, and we strive to do our best. Safety is first," said Regina Matute, a bus driver.
Bus drivers are an essential part of the school experience.
"We've got kids across Wake County that, without the yellow school bus, wouldn't have access to public education," said transportation consultant Derek Graham.
