The district released its 2026-2027 School Enrollment Plan.
Several schools are experiencing significant overcrowding and trailers are being added to handle enrollment numbers.
White Oak Elementary, Mill Park Middle, and Apex Friendship High are a few of the schools where enrollment is now capped. New families are being assigned to an overflow school.
The district has already received some feedback from a recent survey.
"Cohort continuity is a big issue for families across the district, regardless of region," said WCPSS Senior Director for Student Assignment Susan Pullium. "There's concern about the potential disruption to academic development for students, particularly in those upper grades when you're making those long-range plans on how you're going to build out your schedule at the high school level . . . and of course valuing those community connections they've made with their current schools."
The Wake County School Board is expected to vote on the School Enrollment Plan on November 18th.
