Wake Forest police investigate shooting involving former town employee

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake Forest police are investigating a shooting at a home Sunday, where a suspect briefly barricaded herself before surrendering, authorities said.

It happened just before 1 p.m. at a home along the 9300 block of Perini Court. Responding officers found a man outside the residence with a gunshot wound to the foot, and he refused to be taken to a hospital.

Authorities identified the shooting suspect as Magda Holloway, who is the niece of the victim. She barricaded herself inside the home for a short time before coming out.

Officials confirm that she is a former Town of Wake Forest employee who served as director of public works.

Holloway was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury; resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer; and discharging a firearm within the city limits. She is being held in the Wake County Detention Center.
