WILSON'S MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Johnston County firefighter has been fired after being charged with child sex crimes.

Joshua Hunter Womack, 36, of Smithfield, was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators said that evidence found on Womack's cell phone lined up with claims made by a juvenile victim.

Womack was a probationary firefighter with the Wilson's Mills Fire Department.

Fire Chief Jason Moore said they fired Womack after learning about the charges.

Womack is being held in the Johnston County Detention Center on a $1 million secured bond.
