Witnesses say security guard rescued driver in crash

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A security guard on his way to work early Thursday morning ended up helping a driver who overturned their car on NC-55 near Carpenter Fletcher Road in Durham.

Around 2 a.m., the car crashed into a light pole, causing it to flip. The force from the collision also caused the pole to fall over.

Witnesses told ABC11 that the security guard stopped to help the driver, but there was no word on the driver's condition or what caused the accident.

The NC-55 was closed for several hours as authorities cleared the scene.
