Woman dies during altercation at Fayetteville Golden Corral, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman died after suffering a medical emergency during an altercation at a Golden Corral restaurant in Fayetteville on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Fayetteville police responded around 2:30 p.m. to the buffet restaurant at 1806 Skibo Road for a reported physical disturbance with shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive woman and began life saving measures.

The victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation indicates a physical altercation involving multiple people occurred inside the restaurant. Police said it has not been confirmed whether any shots were fired.



The Golden Corral and its parking lot remain closed as the investigation continues.

Detectives are working to determine the sequence of events and are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.
