Man killed in Raleigh crash identified, juvenile sent to hospital

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man killed in a crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Raleigh was identified by police on Sunday.

RPD said the crash happened just before 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Donald Lawrence Morgan, 57, swerved to miss a car that stopped in front of him and hit the curb while traveling eastbound in the 1800 block of MLK.

His pickup then went onto the center median causing the truck to roll over into oncoming traffic. It then hit a mailbox and came to rest on the passenger side.

Morgan was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was thrown from the truck and died from his injuries.

A juvenile was also in the front seat of the truck at the time of the crash and was taken to a hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
