City of Sanford lifts boil water advisory; no bacterial contamination detected

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- The City of Sanford has lifted its boil water advisory after getting test results back that showed no bacterial contamination in the water supply.

Sanford issued a boil water advisory Monday after a water main break early in the morning caused periods of low water pressure and service interruptions to the water system. Those issues put the water supply at risk of being contaminated.

Therefore, after the water main was repaired, the city took water samples to make sure the water was safe for consumption.

The water tests came back at 5 p.m. Tuesday showing that the water supply did not have a bacterial contamination.
