Truck carrying bananas flips on I-85

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (WTVD) -- A truck carrying a load of bananas flipped over on I-85 southbound in Orange County early Monday.

It happened just before 4 a.m. where I-40 and I-85 join together.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel.

The truck's trailer was split open when it hit a bridge support - spilling bananas all over the highway.

Several lanes of I-85 were closed while the mess is cleaned up.
