ABC11 was proud to part in the Walk to defeat ALS that began at downtown Raleigh's Halifax mall Saturday. Our team - Stogner Strong - honors our colleague and friend Larry Stogner who passed away from the disease.

"We all saw what he went through. When you've seen it, you can't turn your back on it anymore," said ABC11 General Manager Caroline Welch.
Many other who took part in Saturday's event had their own stories to tell about ALS.
More than 300 on the Systel Business Equipment team walked together for a coworker.
"Lou Watson, who is a colleague of ours for 25 years at Systel, and was diagnosed two and a half years ago. This is actually our third year that we've had the walk," explained Thomas Wolf.
