3 dead, 4 hurt after shots fired during Wilmington house party, police say

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A shooting at an overnight party in Wilmington killed three people, including a 16-year-old girl, and injured four others.

Wilmington police told ABC News the shooting happened around midnight. Officers were dispatched to 718 Kidder Street in reference to a shots fired call.


Authorities said a gunfight had erupted during a house party and seven people were struck by gunfire.

The three victims were identified as 22-year-old Zieyah Wade; 21-year-old Shamir Jones and a 16-year-old whose name has not been revealed because she is a juvenile.

The four others injured were adults ranging in ages 18 to 21; their conditions remain unknown at this time.

"I've been a prosecutor for over two decades here in Wilmington," said New Hanover and Pender District Attorney Ben David. "Last night was one of the very worst nights we've had in this city. I can't imagine the loss and suffering that these families are experiencing."


The Wilmington Police Department said no motive has been established. While no one is in custody, police said the general public is not in danger.
