Blustering winds knock down traffic lights in Raleigh, roads closed

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The wind is to blame for knocking down traffic lights in Raleigh early Wednesday morning, prompting road closures.

It happened around 4 a.m. at Hammond and Tryon roads.

A detour is currently in place, however, drivers are being advised to avoid the area until repairs are made.

It is unclear when the roadway will reopen, but crews say it could take several hours.
