Investigators identified the person who was shot and killed on Tuesday as Michael Lee, 51, from Chapel Hill.
Lee was one of four people hurt in the deadly shooting but police said the three others are expected to survive.
For one resident who wished to remain anonymous, it took several hours before he came home after the scene cleared.
"I couldn't come in to my unit," the resident said. "I had to wait until it was all over."
The deadly shooting served as another safety reminder with kids living in the area on Pritchard Avenue Extension.

"I think they should put some cameras up just to be on the safe side," the resident said.
Despite investigators saying there was no longer an ongoing threat to the community, neighbors remained concerned. Some said the area is seeing more crime, and just last month, a 19-year-old was shot and killed at this complex.
"It can happen anywhere," the resident said. "I feel bad for the person that was involved. My condolences to his family ... we just have to keep picking up and just go on with life and you never know, you just have to be careful."
The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
