It happened just after 3:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Guess Road.
The victim, later identified as Gregory Wayne Headen, 53, was found in the parking lot of a busy shopping center. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting remains under active investigation.
