Storms down trees, knock out power in Warren County

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Severe weather moved through central North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon and evening, and though most counties saw only spotty storms, others sustained notable damage.

In Warren County, an emergency management official said there was damage from Warrenton to Macon and in between.

Multiple trees were down, and some trees fell on a house, causing structural damage.

Warren County Schools opened on a two-hour delay Wednesday because of power outages and downed trees.

There were no reported injuries.



Halifax Electric said it had around 1,300 customers without power Tuesday night.

Downed trees are storm damage also occurred in Craven County.

Scattered showers and storms began to form in central North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon.



Into the later evening, storms pushed through Wake County and areas east, including Wilson and Goldsboro.

Severe thunderstorm watches ended about 10 p.m. for the region.
