Husband indicted in connection with wife's shooting death in Seven Lakes

WEST END, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Seven Lakes woman was tragically shot and killed earlier this year, and now her husband has been indicted in connection with her death.

On January 3, deputies from the Moore County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Longleaf Drive in Seven Lakes West after receiving a report of an accidental shooting. They found 41-year-old Rachael Loken, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the initial report, the firearm was discharged while being handled by her husband, Christopher Loken, in a nearby room. After reviewing the case, a Moore County grand jury returned an indictment for one count of involuntary manslaughter.

Christopher was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Moore County Detention Center. His first court appearance is set for December 8.
